| Crown of light | ||||
|
CHRISTIAN and other saints have long been represented with halos – circles of light surrounding the head – as an attempt to convey visually the miracle of transformed consciousness. The head of the Buddha, of Mahavira, of Rumi, of Jesus, of Osho, of any enlightened being, is not the same inside as the head of an ordinary person. The physical transformation that occurs with enlightenment has changed the actual structure of the brain, giving such beings access to the 95% or so of the human brain that is not ordinarily used.

A halo, or crown of light, is some faint reflection of this wonder. And this crown is filled with a rainbow of coloured jewels – an indication of the splendour and majesty of enlightenment. It is also densely criss-crossed by lines – a reflection of the rich and harmonious network of new neural pathways that comes into being with enlightenment. |
